FCSS stands for Family and Community Support Services. This is a joint endeavour between the provincial government and municipalities. Lac La Biche County FCSS is a partnership between the County and the Government of Alberta that supports preventative social services in the community. Both the local and provincial governments fund the program, and an advisory board composed of four County residents and two County councillors makes programming decisions. This ensures the program’s goals and actions are aligned with the community’s needs.
Lac La Biche County’s FCSS and Community Development department focuses on social programs that enhance residents’ quality of life and wellbeing, encourage personal growth and strengthen the community. The department works alongside other local and regional organizations to build partnerships and further a sense of community belonging.
FCSS activities include grant programs, information and referral services (including assistance for seniors), volunteer recognition and supports, community events, various courses and workshops, hosting interagency meetings, and much more. FCSS is here to help connect social programs and services with the people who need them.

The Lac La Biche County Interagency is a group of service agencies and community members who meet to share information and ideas, and discuss current trends and issues that affect residents’ quality of life. All interested groups and individuals are invited to attend bi-monthly meetings. There is always an open seat at the table.
Please e-mail email@example.com to find out more, or if you would like to present at the Interagency’s next regular meeting. FCSS and Community Development also maintains a list of agencies and residents who want to be kept informed about local programs and services between meetings.
One of FCSS and Community Development’s main responsibilities is observing what is happening in the community, identifying gaps in local social programs and services, and finding ways to fill them. The department’s activities change frequently, so up-to-date information is posted on Lac La Biche County FCSS’ Facebook page.
